Our Story
Ashley and Guillermo met in dental school. She was in her first year; he was in his fourth and final. Back in the Facebook days, Guillermo added her —even though she had never seen him before and had no idea who he was.
Not long after, on an ordinary day, Ashley was walking to class with some study notes in hand when, suddenly, Guillermo appeared right beside her.
In his version, Ashley slowed down to wait for him.
In hers, he sprinted to catch up.
While catching his breath, Guillermo asked his first important question —even though he already knew the answer:
“Do you have a quiz today?”
In first year, there’s always a quiz. He knew that. And, as expected, the answer was yes.
They talked for a while, he walked her to her classroom, and then headed to clinic.
Some time later, at the well-known bar La Neurona, Guillermo approached her again —this time with a little more strategy. Sitting next to her, he asked her out.
Dinner, margaritas, an instant connection… and the beginning of something that would grow far beyond what they imagined.
Then came their first big test: Guillermo’s residency in New York. Long distance began —with trips whenever possible and the certainty that they wanted to keep choosing each other.
Three years later, when Ashley finished dental school, she moved to New York for her residency. Their relationship continued to grow —through challenges, milestones, moves, laughter, and adventures.
Later on, Guillermo received an offer for a Fellowship in the Midwest. Another big decision. Once again, choosing each other.
And it worked.
In 2024, during a hiking trip with friends, they had to scramble up a small waterfall. When Ashley finally made it to the top, Guillermo did what he does best:
ask a question he already knows the answer to.
¿“Will you marry me?”
Eight years after asking if she had a quiz —knowing the answer would be yes— Guillermo did it again.
And once more, the answer was yes.
They spent that Christmas in Puerto Rico —happy, excited, and with full hearts. Back in Missouri, in the middle of a snowstorm, surrounded by cold, nostalgia, and “Debí tirar más fotos” playing in the background, they had a realization:
it was time to go back home.
In 2025, they returned to Puerto Rico, surrounded by family, friends, the beach, laughter, and their island —a light, beautiful chapter filled with gratitude.
After years of challenges, long distance, moves, and adventures —with Ashley planning everything and Guillermo going with the flow in the best way— they are now ready for what’s next.
They’ve chosen Medellín, Colombia, as the setting for their next great adventure: a celebration of their story, everything they’ve lived… and everything that’s still to come.
